How to Make Your Own Sodas

If you are one of those who likes to DIY everything, then you are probably wondering by now after this month of ice cream and soda, if you can make your own? Of course, everyone knows you can make your own ice cream! That is very popular. But can you make your own sodas? Yes, you can! 🙂

For hundreds of years, people have been making flavored drinks. In the Medieval ages, it was popular to sweeten drinks, especially wine, with honey. People would often enfuse or ferment different fruits, flowers and herbs into their drinks to give them more flavor. The first “soda” was introduced in England where an Englishman mixed the new carbonated soda water with juice.

Making your own soda can be as easy or as hard as you would like it to be. Mixing your own juice with carbonated water or seltzer will create a basic soda. Or you could get more fancy and make your own flavored sugar syrups which, in combination with carbonated water, is actually what sodas are made of. There is a reason they have the nickname “liquid candy”! Making your own syrups takes more time, but the creativity that you can enjoy by making your own syrups is worth it! Here is a wonderful article complete with recipes for making your own sodas!
