Made this amazing carrot sourdough cake last week

Made this amazing carrot sourdough cake last week from @kingarthurbaking

It was super delicious, stayed moist even after being in the fridge for a few days and you couldn't taste the sourdough at all! 🤤

If you are looking for something new to try with your sourdough starter, I highly recommend this! I'm making it again this weekend! It's the perfect thing for autumn baking 🍂🍁

And side note for anyone wondering, my sourdough starter is doing great at four years old 😁

This summer I went on a working vacation up to Mic

This summer I went on a working vacation up to Michigan with my brothers. After the trip, before we went home, we had a chance to enjoy the quaint little downtown of the town we were staying near.

We managed to wander into an amazing three-story antique shop and spent two hours walking around and looking at everything! It was like waking back in time 😁

Of course, I had to share some photos of all the historic kitchen tools, cookbooks and old food packaging that we found! It was amazing to see the old designs of the kitchenware and the name brands that no longer exist!

I managed to post a little bit on here now and again, but the break was much needed and very satisfying!

I'm back now though and tomorrow the first part of my fall content begins! We are taking it back to school again this year, but the difference is this month's food history topic is all about cooking schools!

My dad's birthday was last week and he requested his favorite cake - red velvet! I don't often make it because of all the red dye, but since this was a special number birthday for him, I made it 😁 🎂

I love making homemade cakes! It takes longer then just stirring up a cake mix, but the flavor is 💯 percent better. Especially if you're making your own cream cheese frosting! So, so good!

Do you know why this cake is known as a red "velvet" cake? The cake was introduced during the Depression. The Adams red food coloring company promised that this new cake recipe that they had created to sell their red food dye, would have a fine crumb texture like velvet!

Summer is just around the corner! This year I'm planning to step back from posting on the blog to focus on some other projects.

Between work, teaching herbal classes, study and a very EXCITING project I have going on, I haven't been able to fully spend time researching for the food history topics that I have lined up.

But! I'll will be still posting here on Instagram 😊 And I'm planning to resume posting on the blog at the beginning of September.

Keep a look out today for one final post on the blog with a list of some of my favorite articles I have written!
