I taught a class last week at our local garden cen I taught a class last week at our local garden center all about edible flowers and how to crystallize then! 🌺🌸🌼

It was such a fun time and everyone got to go home with a little package of edible flowers and mint. Because leaves crystallize really well too and sugared mint leaves taste amazing! Like perfect mint candy 😁

Did you know that in Roman times, edible flowers use to be super popular? They loved to add violets and roses to their omelettes!

Have you tried edible flowers yet?

Finishing out our United Kingdom month with making Finishing out our United Kingdom month with making some sourdough crumpets!

Crumpets are believed to have originated in Wales. They are softer then English muffins because they are made with a yeasted batter.

These that I made are straight up sourdough with a little sugar, salt and baking soda. They are so fluffy and perfect with butter and honey or jam 🍯 😋

How do you like to use your sourdough?

It's spring!!! 🌺🌼🌸🌻🌿 And that means It's spring!!! 🌺🌼🌸🌻🌿 And that means all the beautiful flowers are starting to appear as the earth warms up.

Did you know that there are dozens and dozens of edible flowers out there? Most people know that you can eat pansies and nasturtiums, roses and lavender, but did you know you can also eat fuchsia, borage, marigolds and jasmine?

Of course, all of these blooms have to be cultivated without chemicals in order to be safe for human consumption, but how neat would it be to eat a flower salad?!

This month we are headed across the pond to the Un This month we are headed across the pond to the United Kingdom for some food history!

I'm so excited to share all the interesting tidbits that I uncovered! I visited England several years ago and enjoyed it so much 🇬🇧 Though America and England have the same language, the cultures are quite different. And the food is no exception!

Also, with the crowning of a new monarch not too far away, the food of the United Kingdom is likely to be on display too!

Have you ever traveled to the United Kingdom before?

I especially loved how they included some famous state recipes and a couple of sections about famous chefs and people who have made major contributions to the culinary field like George Washington Carver.

What is your favorite American history tidbit?

This is a recipe passed along by my aunt. The oats and cinnamon give the bread a special touch that I have never seen in any other bread recipe. And I love that one recipe makes two loaves! You can freeze the second loaf for later or just devour it too 😉

If you try it, let me know what you think!
