The Land of Chocolate

I wrote an article several years ago about the origins of hot chocolate, you can read it here. It may be a little late in the year to be enjoying hot chocolate since winter is almost over, but hot chocolate doesn’t really have to be a wintertime only drink! Hot chocolate can warm you up any time of year and if you drink Mexican inspired hot chocolate with chili powder, it will most certainly do just that!

I’m sharing a very authentic Mexican/Mayan hot chocolate recipe today! This hot chocolate is very close to what would have been served to those ancient people. It takes some getting use to as it is not very sweet, the cornmeal adds an interesting chewy texture and the chili gives you a little kick at the end, but the more you drink it, the more you will enjoy it!
