Vacation Foods

Whether it’s the beach, the mountains or the lake you’re headed for, vacation time is just around the corner! And whether it’s for a few days or a week or more, making food a unique part of your vacation should definitly be in your plans! In fact, eating on vacation is a major part of the fun in my book 🙂

Where you are going on vacation has a huge part in what you decide to eat during your trip. If you are going camping, that means lots of outdoor foods, easy prep items and foods you can cook on the grill or fire. If you’re headed on a road trip, lots of snacks are in order. And if you’re headed to a resort or theme park, it’s a good idea to find the closest restaurants.

What if you are headed to a destination vacation like Hawaii or the Caribbean? Now is your chance to try out the food of that culture! And if you are visiting a historic site, see if you can find food that they would have enjoyed during the time period.

Maybe we could all take a lesson too from the travelers before us. Traveling use to take a lot longer even just a hundred years ago because of bad roads, lack of gasoline or slow cars. Many people traveled over a period of days to get to their vacation spot. They would stop along the way to sightsee and stay in motels. Maybe slowing down to see the sights along the way could be a part of the vacation itself!
